About Kangalaba Secondary School

Kangalaba Secondary School is a government-aided secondary school serving Kangalaba and surrounding communities in Butaleja District, Eastern Uganda.

The school was established in 1984. Its establishment was inspired and supported by the church, with the late Mr. T. K. Mugoya, a former Chief Inspector of Schools in Uganda, playing an important role in its early development.

The school is located in Kangalaba Village, Kangalaba Parish, Himutu Sub-county, approximately 30 kilometres from Mbale City.

Our History

Kangalaba Secondary School began with very limited infrastructure. From 1984, lessons were conducted under mango trees at Kangalaba Primary School.

Despite these difficult beginnings, teachers, parents, learners and community leaders remained committed to the growth of the school.

In 2010, the Government constructed two classroom blocks and a science laboratory at the school’s current site. This development marked an important stage in the school’s growth and provided learners with a more permanent environment for teaching and learning.

The school occupies approximately five acres of land donated by the church.
